The History of Cleveland City
The name to the city was given in 1796 by Connecticut Land Company’s surveyors, who named it after their leader General Moses Cleaveland. The name of first settler of the city was Lorenzo Carter. The area was incorporated as village in 1814. Soon, the area started to experience rapid growth especially after the competition of Ohio and Erie Canal in 1832. The city status incorporation happened in 1836. It happened to be an important center for American Manufacturing in early 20th century. This rapid growth in economy and infrastructure met new heights in 21st century.
