The History of Hamilton City

The Hamilton Fort was built in 1791 by Northwest Territory’s Governor. The settlements began to grow around the fort in 1794, so it was platted as the name “Fairfield”. It was the 1st incorporated town in 1810 in result of Ohio General Assembly’s act. Once the town lots its status, but it was again incorporated in 1827. This town obtained the city status in 1857. By the start of 20th century, the city has become a huge manufacturing hub for various industries.
